Nicholas I. Finnegan, age 19, of Ionia, Iowa died Saturday July 17, 2010 at his home. Nicholas Ian Finnegan was born October 23, 1990 at Mercy Hospital in New Hampton to Brian and Debbie (Arends) Finnegan. Nicholas attended New Hampton Schools and was a 2009 graduate of New Hampton High School. While attending high school Nicholas was employed at Theisens in New Hampton. Upon graduating Nicholas was attending Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa. He was employed at Blains Farm and Fleet in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Nicholas enjoyed paintballing, tubing, canoeing, swimming, music, computers, video games, and snowmobiling. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and loved his pets. He was interested in history. Nicholas also loved spending time with family and friends. Nicholas is survived by his parents, Brian and Debbie (Arends) Finnegan of Ionia; his two brothers, Patrick Finnegan, and Joshua Finnegan, both of Ionia; his paternal grandmother, Patsy Finnegan of Ionia; his maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Edna (Gardine) Maderios of Nevada, Iowa; his maternal grandfather, Roger Arends of Charles City, Iowa; many aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joseph Pat Finnegan; and his great-grandparents. Memorials: Memorials may be directed to the family. Cemetery: Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery in Ionia. Visitation: Visitation will be 4:00-8:00pm on Tuesday July 20, 2010, with a scriptural wake service at 4:30pm at Ionia Funeral Home in Ionia, Iowa. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Ionia Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements: 641-394-3635. Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am on Wednesday July 21, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, Iowa with Father Mark Osterhaus celebrating.

  20. I did not know your son, but have met him at Thiesens at New Hampton, and he always seemed to be a very nice and well respected young man. We have three sons of our own and they are all around your sons age. My heart goes out to you and your famliy during this very sad time in our life.
