Conway-Markham Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Richard Clemens Holschlag was born February 3, 1939 the son of Harold and Loraine (Heit) Holschlag. He attended a rural country school and St. Mary’s Catholic School, graduating from New Hampton High School in 1957. On July 11, 1960 he married the love of his life, Rose Burgart. They were blessed with six children. Richard was very proud of his entire family. He worked night shift at John Deere and farmed during the day until he needed a grain bin. In 1968, R.C. Holschlag Bin Sales was born. Working together, their family and business grew. His legacy lives on with the bin business proudly owned and operated by his son, Joe. The farms have stayed in the Holschlag family, now being nurtured by sons Bob and Paul. Richard and Rose wintered in the south for 30+ years. Richard was a strong man with a generous heart. He was never one to sit still. He took pride in helping others, especially impoverished families in South Texas. When delivering the care packages, he would fix items in their houses, even teaching a young boy how to winterize their home. Richard had a great faith, and rarely missed Sunday mass. He often told us that he had lived a good life. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, and served as Grand Knight. We know there was an incredible reunion with Yvonne, Jaxon, Ann and his parents. Richard is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Rose; children, Joe (Ronda) Holschlag, Bob (Brenda) Holschlag, Paul (Sherri) Holschlag all of New Hampton, Sue (Nick) Baker of Ionia, Dave (Jodi) Holschlag of Charles City; 23 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sister, Marilee (Roy) Richardson of Knoxville, IA. Numerous nieces, nephews and adopted families in South Texas. Richard is preceded in death by his grandson, Jaxon Rosendahl; daughter, Yvonne Los; his parents and sister, Ann.
