.Richard J. Gerber, age 75, of Ionia, IA, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at his home.
A private family service will be held at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton,IA with a private burial at St. Boniface Cemetery in Ionia. Online condolences for Rich’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Richard John Gerber was born on June 22, 1945 to Carl and Louise (Joebgen) Gerber in New Hampton, IA. He attended school in New Hampton and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1963. Rich went to work at Supersweet Feeds in New Hampton where he worked for 45 years until he retired in 2010. Rich also farmed for several years near Ionia. Rich enjoyed trout fishing, camping, playing cards, going to the casino and being with family. Rich was a member of St. Boniface Church in Ionia.
Rich is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy of Ionia; children Paula (Wes) Arkema of Kellogg, IA, Brian (Wendy) Gerber of Charles City, IA, Randy (Kim) Gerber of Charles City, IA, and Jeff (Justine) Gerber of New Hampton; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Roger Gerber of San Diego, CA; sister Carol Diamond of Independence, IA and nieces and nephews.
Rich is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Louise Gerber.
