Robert D. Boos, age 86 of New Hampton, IA, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.
Robert “Bob” D. Boos was born on May 19, 1929, in New Hampton to Samuel V. and Justine (Walentiny) Boos. He attended and graduated from New Hampton High School in 1948. Upon graduation from high school, Bob began his career as the assistant hog buyer for Jacob E. Decker and Sons in New Hampton. In 1951, Bob enlisted into the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the 204th Field Artillery and the 407th Combat Engineers with a rank of Staff Sergeant. Bob returned home in 1953 where he met and later married his loving wife, Rita Shannon, on December 27, 1954, at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. The couple made their home in New Hampton where Bob continued to work as the manager at the buying station under the Monfort, Armour, and Swift companies. Bob and Rita raised their seven children, Ellen, Paula, Sam, Andrew, Robert S., Christopher, and Matthew until 1988 when Rita passed away. Bob retired from work in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, playing poker, listening to the Molly B polka parties, and watching Hawkeye sports. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Ellen (Dan) Mueller and Paula Boos, both of Rochester, MN; his sons, Sam (Amy) Boos of New Hampton, Andrew (Dianna) Boos of Rockwell, IA, Robert S. Boos of New Hampton, Christopher (Donna) Boos of Jesup, IA, and Matthew (Amy) Boos of Lawton, IA; his grandchildren, Abbey Mueller, Kristina (Bryan Mueterthies) Boos, Emily (Mitch) Boss, Samantha (Herbert) Hill, Shane Boos, Taylor Boos, Jayden Schwickerath, Shannon and Landon Boos, and Logan Boos; step-grandchildren Andy, Nick, Madelynn, and Ben Nelson, Kurt Bahrke, and 8 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Boos-Bravener of Tripoli, IA, Jean Shannon of New Hampton, and Marge (Gerald) Gansen of Riceville, IA; and his beloved dog, Donnie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Rita; his sisters, Arlene (William) Denner, Colletta Buss, and Lorraine (Leonard) Eiler; and his brother, Earl Boos.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole Boos family. Mary and I was welcomed into Bobs house during the Davis Rally. We shared many a cup of coffee and interesting conversation.
There is a miracle called Friendship that dwells within the heart and you don’t know how it happens or when it even starts. But the happiness it brings you always gives a special lift and you realize that Friendship is God’s most precious gift.
