Robert L DeVries, age 73, of Floyd, Iowa died on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa.
Robert Lee DeVries was born on March 7, 1937 to John and Helen (Hector) DeVries in Elma, Iowa. Bob attended school in Elma graduating from Elma High School in 1956. He joined the Iowa National Guard serving for 13 years. Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Kruger on October 18, 1958 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Riceville. The couple made their home in and around Floyd, Iowa. Bob was a machinist for White Farm Corporation in Charles City for 25 years. Later he worked as a RV technician for Bo-De Enterprises in Austin, Minnesota for 18 years before his retirement. Bob loved to restore antique cars, fish, play cards and most of all loved his family and friends and his dog Buddy. Bob was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Riceville.
Cemetery:
According to Bobs wishes he was cremated and there will be a private burial at a later date.
Visitation:
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, January 28, 2011 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in Elma, Iowa and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Service:
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Riceville, Iowa with Pastor Michael Parris officiating.
