Roger Rings, age 75, of New Hampton, IA passed away on November 9, 2012 at his residence in rural New Hampton. Roger Edward Rings was born on March 8, 1937 to Frank and Loretta (Kalkbrenner) Rings in New Hampton, IA. He attended school in New Hampton and was a 1956 graduate of New Hampton High School. After graduating Roger farmed with his father. On October 28, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo Douglas at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Hampton. The couple made their home on the family farm where Roger has continued to live. Roger was a member of Holy Family Parish. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and playing cards. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Roger is survived by his five children, David (Kathy) Rings of Woodward, IA, Elinor (Brett) Brass of Charles City, Randy Rings, Sandra (Randy) Tindell and Jeffrey (Mary Jo) Rings, all of New Hampton; his grandchildren, Justin (Rachael) Halvorson, Nicole Rings, Michelle, Stephanie and Dillon Tindell, Adrian, Alexis, Gavin and Kinslee Rings; his step-grandchildren, Nathaniel Huffman, Angela and Dustin Obermeier, Anissa, Lindsey and J. J. Jerdee; his great-grandchildren, Kadence Hillhouse, Kayci Tindell, Dalton and Carter Haberkorn and Blake McRoberts and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Jo; and two sisters, Luella Glaser and Frances Bohr. Cemetery: Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at New Hampton. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00pm on Monday, November 12, 2012 with a 4:30pm rosary and a 6:00pm scriptural wake service at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Tuesday. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph’s Center in New Hampton with Father Mark Osterhaus celebrating.
