Russell A. Howe, Jr., age 76 of Lawler, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton, IA with Pastor Sue Cira officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton and will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in Alta Vista or the American Red Cross. Online condolences for Russell’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Russell Andrew Charles Howe, Jr. was born March 15, 1943 on the family farm in rural Lawler. He attended country school and finished his education at New Hampton High School. Throughout his life, Russell worked hard and played harder. He farmed, worked for the City of New Hampton, and was employed by Sara Lee until the closing. He finished out his career driving truck hauling grain. Russell was a man of many skills and even more jokes. He will be deeply missed by his family who cherished his strength, wit, and storytelling. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, David Howe of Centerville, IA, Dan (Janice) Howe of Lawler, Christy Howe of Cedar Rapids, IA and Tina (Chad) Utley of Ham Lake, MN; his six grandchildren, Joshua, Devin, Zach, Kaycee, Natallia and Owen; his sister Mary Mitchell of Kissimmee, FL; his beloved dog, Buster and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Agnes; and his brother-in-law, Jacque Mitchell.

  1. Junior was a wonderful man and an exceptional friend. My boys and I enjoyed many fun times fishing with him or just visiting. My oldest son Justin hunted deer on his land. My boys and I will miss him. Lynn, Justin,and Jordan Hollister.

  6. I am so sorry to read if Mr. Lynn’s passing. May you draw upon the comfort that only God can give through his promise to swallow up death forever and to wipe the tears from our eyes. (Isaiah 25:8) And for our lives ones who have already fallen asleep in death, God promises that the hour is coming when these ones will hear his son Jesus call their name. (John 5:28,29) The Bible gives us hope.
