Veronica J. Roethler, age 94, of Alta Vista, formally from Little Turkey, IA passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, IA with Father Jerry Kopacek officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Alta Vista, IA.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, IA with a 3:30 PM Rosary and a Scriptural Wake Service immediately following the Rosary. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday. Online condolences may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Veronica was born November 9, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Langreck) Gerleman. Veronica was united in marriage to Francis Michael Roethler on April 12, 1951 at Assumption Catholic Church in Little Turkey, IA.
Following their marriage, the couple farmed south of Alta Vista. Veronica was a homemaker her whole life. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the rosary society. Veronica enjoyed time away from the farm bowling in two leagues at New Hampton for many years. She also bowled in Elma with her friends. Veronica enjoyed cooking, baking, cleaning and shopping for clothes. She always had a soft spot in her heart for children and babies. Game Show Network, Molly Bee, Daniel O’Donnell and traveling were a few of her passions. While travelling to see her daughter in Nashville, Veronica enjoyed going to tapings and benefits where she was able to meet Toby Keith, B.J. Thomas David Ball, etc. Her claim to fame was sitting next to Patsy Cline's husband at a benefit at "The Nashville Palace."
Veronica is survived by her 3 children; Dale Roethler, of Alta Vista, David (Susan) Roethler, Plainfield, Diane Roethler, Spring Hill, TN; Grandchildren, Tina (Roethler) Henderson, Parks, AR, Tammy (Robert) Jordan, Alta Vista, Tony Roethler, Elma, Tyrel Roethler, Elma, Kelly Roethler, Franklin, TN; Great Grandchildren, Joseph Jordan, Sumner, Victoria Jordan, Alta Vista, Kimberly Jordan, Alta Vista, Brianna Jordan, New Hampton, Kaylee Roethler, New Hampton, Kaitlyn, Keira, Kenzie Roethler, Elma, Summer Callihan & Javon Roethler, Franklin, TN; Brother, Joe Gerleman, Ames and many nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by her husband, Francis M. Roethler; parents, Joseph & Rose Gerleman; sister, Jovina Scally; Brothers, Herman, Alfred, Eugene and Gilbert Gerleman; In-laws, Herbert & Rose Roethler, Clair & Norma Roethler; nephew, Jim Scally.
