William D. “Bill” Laue, age 65, of Cresco, IA, died Monday, July 08, 2013 at the Howard Residential Care Facility in Cresco, IA. William Diedrich Laue was born in Elma, IA, on January 24, 1948, to Herman and Clara (Stevenson) Laue and grew up on a farm near Maple Leaf. He graduated in 1966 from Crestwood High School in Cresco, IA. Bill married Janice Kay Abbas on January 21, 1967, at Zion Lutheran Church in Alta Vista, IA. The couple had four children. After high school Bill worked at John Deere in Waterloo until 1972. The couple started farming and in 1973 purchased a farm near Maple Leaf where they raised their family. The couple later divorced. Bill started working for the Donaldson Company, Inc. in Cresco in 1977, and was a member of UAW Local #120. He eventually retired from farming, moved to Cresco, and retired from Donaldson’s in 1998. Bill was a member of St. Paul’s Maple Leaf Lutheran Church in Elma. Bill is survived by his children, Michael (Carleen) Laue of Charles City, IA, Michelle (Robert) Sievert of Claremore, OK, Melissa (Gerry) Pickar of Nowata, OK, and Mitch (Deb Nichols) Laue of Waverly, IA; his sisters, Maxine Friedrich of Elma, IA, Alice (Dean) Schroeder of Chester, IA, Anne Mae Wolfgram of Fairbank, IA, and Sharon (Gary) Zajik of Charles City, IA; his brothers, Dale (Sharon) Laue of Elma, IA, and Gary (Ann) Laue of Phoenix, AZ; ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Clara Laue; his sisters, Linda Fogarty and Donna Frederickson; his brothers-in-law Lloyd Friedrich and Darol Wolfgram and two nephews, Lonnie Friedrich and Bill Wolfgram. Cemetery: Burial will be in Saratoga Township Cemetery in Saratoga, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Funeral services for Bill have been set for 10:30am, Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Paul's Maple Leaf Lutheran Church in Elma with Pastor Dan Christensen officiating.

I guess we knew this day was going to come eventually, hard to believe it is here. May he rest in peace and be safely in heaven. Here’s to keeping his good memories alive.

  5. I got stuck in a snow drift many many years ago It was very late at nite. Over the hill comes a car with Bill n Jan. They pushed me out. Thanks for being my angels and helping me.
